You are currently in step 3 Transfer predictive segment to channel of the Get started checklist. In the previous step, you turned your prediction output into a user segment. Now, you will activate that audience by transferring it to a connected channel.
This is where predictive intelligence becomes campaign activation. A prediction model identifies which customers are likely to generate value. A user segment turns those predictions into an audience. Segment Transfer makes that audience available for campaign execution.
For the Nordic Outdoor example, we will transfer the top 200 high-value customer segment to a connected channel so it can be used for their proactive WhatsApp campaign or Direct Mail campaign.
- Step 3.1 Create a new Segment Transfer
- Step 3.2 Configure the transfer
- Step 3.3 Select user segment
- Step 3.4 Define the destination and format
- Step 3.5 Activate the transfer
Step 3.1 Create a new Segment Transfer
Go to the Segment Transfer module and create a new segment transfer.
A Segment Transfer does not define your audience. That work has already been done in your User Segment. Instead, Segment Transfer determines how the audience is delivered, where it is sent and when it should be available.
Think of Segment Transfer as the final step that connects predictive intelligence to campaign execution.
🎯 Nordic Outdoor example
Nordic Outdoor already created a Customer Lifetime Value model and selected their top high-value customers in a User Segment. Segment Transfer now makes that audience available for campaign execution.
Step 3.2 Configure the transfer
Start by defining the basic transfer settings. Give the transfer a clear name so it can easily be identified later. For example: Nordic Outdoor High-Value Customers. Next, configure when the transfer should run.
| Transfer type | Use case |
| One-time transfer | Send the audience once for a specific campaign. |
| Recurring transfer | Keep the connected channel updated with the latest audience membership. |
Recurring transfers are particularly useful when prediction scores change over time. As customers move up or down in ranking, updated audiences can automatically be sent to connected channels.
Control group
A control group can help you understand whether your campaign is actually influencing customer behaviour. Customers in the control group are kept out of the campaign, so you can compare their behaviour against the customers who did receive the campaign.
For now, you can leave the control group disabled unless you already have a clear testing setup and enough audience volume to make the comparison meaningful.
Step 3.3 Select user segment
In the Target Group step, select the User Segment you created in the previous step. This segment already contains the customers identified by your prediction model. By selecting it here, you are defining which audience should be transferred.
💡 Why this step matters
Prediction models generate scores and rankings, but campaigns cannot use those directly. User Segments translate prediction output into an audience, and Segment Transfer makes that audience available outside Spotler Predict.
Step 3.4 Define the destination and format
Next, choose where the audience should be delivered. The Target and Format step determines how the audience is exported and which connected destination should receive it, via sFTP upload or Webhooks. Depending on your available integrations, you may be able to configure:
- The destination channel.
- The transfer format.
- The fields that should be included.
- The delivery schedule.
The exact options depend on the integrations available in your account, but the underlying goal remains the same: make your predictive audience available where your campaigns are executed.

🎯 Nordic Outdoor example
Nordic Outdoor wants to use their predictive audience in high-investment channels such as WhatsApp and Direct Mail. The destination they choose here determines where that audience becomes available for campaign execution.
Step 3.5 Activate the transfer
Before activating the transfer, review all settings carefully.
- Is the correct User Segment selected?
- Is the transfer schedule correct?
- Is the intended destination configured?
- Are the export settings configured as expected?
When everything is configured correctly, activate the Segment Transfer. Spotler Predict will now export the audience according to the schedule and format you configured. Depending on the selected destination, the audience may become available immediately or after the next scheduled transfer run.
Congratulations!
Your predictive user segment has been successfully transferred to a connected channel. This means you have completed all steps. 🎉
For Nordic Outdoor, the audience is now ready to be used in their WhatsApp and Direct Mail campaigns, allowing them to focus their budget on the customers most likely to generate value.
The complete workflow looks like this:
- Prediction Model → identifies future high-value customers.
- User Segment → turns prediction output into an audience.
- Segment Transfer → makes that audience available to connected channels.
- Campaign Channel → activates the audience.
🚀 But, predictive marketing only creates value when predictions can be used in campaigns. You can now continue in your campaign channel to build, launch and measure your campaign!
